Why I don't use scores in my reviews
Last updated July 18, 2025.
I decided to skip the stars, numbers, thumbs ups on my site for a simple reason. I find them distracting and holding me back. As I sat there, debating weather a book was an 8/10 or a 9/10, I realized that this isn't what matters. This isn't a scoreboard where I can compare two things and say one is better. It robs me of the joy I want to feel when writing here.
I only write about things I like. I would rather spend my time encouraging you to read or watch something - then warning you away from it. I would rather spend my time on the why rather than what the score was. If you read one of my reviews I hope you will take away why it resonated with me and if it resonated with you - I'd love to have a conversation about it.
